The Moutin Reunion Quartet
Biography__Music__Website

“Many things—besides the exciting, inventive way they combine “straight- ahead” and “neo-fusion”—make the Moutin Reunion Quartet a distinctive ensemble.”
- Bob Protzman

“…it is the playing of the Moutin twins that takes the music from the level of eminently listenable to the lofty plane of prime, world-class jazz.”
- Don Heckman, LA Times

“The group consistently shows instrumental confidence (François’ bass prowess is a marvel in itself) and a unified approach rare among groups with all its members residing in the same postal code.”
- Ashley Kahn, JazzTimes

In many respects, the Moutin Reunion Quartet is an out-of-the-ordinary jazz group. It has two leaders — twin brothers François Moutin on bass and Louis Moutin on drums, who together and separately have worked with a host of major jazz artists over the last 20 years.

Its two sidemen, Rick Margitza on tenor sax and Pierre de Bethmann on piano/Fender Rhodes, are band leaders in their own right with extensive discographies and recognition by critics and musician colleagues alike.

The Moutin Reunion Quartet is uniquely positioned as a bridge between the United States and Europe, musically as well as geographically (François lives in New York, the other band members live in Paris). Simply stated the quartet is making some of the most striking music on today’s jazz scene.
